Pub Quiz for PEPY

On Friday 6th May we held a general knowledge pub quiz and raffle in support of local NGO PEPY Empowering Youth, a Cambodia-based education and youth-leadership non-profit organization. In their own words “Empowering Youth is what we do. We empower youth to pursue a bright future, improve the quality of their lives, and achieve their dream careers.

We are PEPY Empowering Youth.

The PEPY Empowering Youth founding team was inspired by the belief that education is the key to sustainable change. Through our education and community development programs, PEPY Empowering Youth has reached over 3,100 young people by working directly with government-funded schools, community members, and leaders in Chanleas Dai Commune, an area in northwest Cambodia. Dedicated local leaders, collaborations with other like-minded organizations, and private donations help us realize our mission: to support Cambodian youth in expanding their opportunities.

We do this by working with young people, investing time and resources to connect them with the skills, systems and inspiration necessary to achieve their goals, raise standards of living, and improve the quality of education in their communities.” Take a look at their website to read more about who PEPY Empowering Youth are and what they do.

The pub quiz was a well supported event and lots of fun, and despite calls that the quiz may be harder than normal the winning team scraped a win with a 1 point lead…possibly the bonus point given for naming all 7 of the United Arab Emirates by name! The quiz only asked how many there were! A well deserved bonus point and the hard earned winners’ beer was shared with the runners up so everyone was happy.

6th May 2016 Raffle Prize List1

We drew the winners of our raffle after the quiz, 30 prizes all donated by lovely local businesses. All of our winners were happy with their prizes. The big winners of the night though were PEPY with $400 raised for their ongoing work. As with all of our fundraisers all entrance fees, raffle ticket sales and any donations are collected entirely for the NGO.
