After a ten week break to welcome our newest member of the Rosy Guesthouse family into the world we returned with a music quiz and raffle in support of Rural Schools Village Program, RSVP. RSVP, a side project of the Cambodian Self Help Demining (CSHD) Organization, build schools in rural villages where their team clear landmines. So far they have built 18 schools and are working on their 19th and 20th. RSVP’s mission is “to teach rural village children, who would have otherwise had limited opportunity to access education, to read and write Khmer, and basic math skills.”
We had a full house for the night with many singing along to the quiz our music quiz master had prepared. All of the songs featured had been number ones in the USA (from the 50’s to the present day) and the mystery-round songs all featured the word America or American!
Our raffle sponsors were back on board with an updated raffle prize list and a new prize from Siem Reap’s Rockabilly’s Rock & Brews bar. We had 24 prizes to be won plus spot prizes given in the quiz. The post quiz raffle draw generated a lot of happy winners, and more importantly more money for RSVP!
Many thanks as usual to Stephen for hosting the event and to everyone who came along and spent the evening with us. We had a fun night and thankfully the baby slept well once in bed. Congratulations to all of the prize winners and thank you to our generous prize sponsors! As with all of our fundraisers entrance fees, raffle ticket sales and donations are collected entirely for the NGO. At the end of the night US$263 was raised for RSVP which will go towards school supplies. Here’s a few photos of the night and prize winners…
