BINGO Night for Plastic Free Cambodia

Eyes Down! On Friday 23rd September we held a BINGO night and raffle at Rosy guesthouse in support of local organisation Plastic Free Cambodia. Plastic Free Cambodia aims to raise awareness of the damage single-use disposable plastic causes. Furthermore, they also actively promote sustainable alternatives. Workshops are offered by Plastic Free Cambodia to educate on the problems of plastic usage and to offer solutions tailored to the participant’s activities. Check out their mission and see how you can join in on their website, or facebook page.

In the spirit of creating less waste we use metal bottle caps for our BINGO markers. This means our BINGO sheets can be used for all 14 games of the night, plus our bottle cap markers and coconut shell bowls are reused for every BINGO night we host. We’ll be looking at how we can further reduce our negative impact from our waste throughout the guesthouse too!

Plastic Free Cambodia BINGO game prizes!

BINGO Night prizes for Plastic Free Cambodia
So many generous sponsors in Siem Reap, what a great prize list! – BINGO game prizes.

We had more than 40 prizes to be won on the night. The prizes collected were split between BINGO prizes and raffle prizes. Our friendly BINGO host Dan kept everyone entertained with his BINGO calls and the Rosy team were kept busy checking winners’ numbers and handing out the prizes drawn, in between caring for the wakeful baby! The event was well attended despite the rains; we had a full house for the night.

Many thanks to Dan for hosting the event and to everyone who came along and spent the evening with us. We had a fun night and hope you did too! Congratulations to all of the BINGO and raffle prize winners and thank you to our generous prize sponsors! As with all of our fundraisers entrance fees, raffle ticket sales and donations are collected entirely for the NGO. At the end of the night US$432 was raised for Plastic Free Cambodia which will go towards ongoing costs. Here’s a few photos of the night and prize winners…

  1. I decided to join Plastic Free July Cambodia because I could see the strong implications of plastic use in Cambodia and it is clear to me that there is a lack of awareness on plastic problems amongst my family, friends and fellow Cambodians.
